Mylo Reboot!

Mylo is the training app I wish I had, a companion tool to help me with my training in the gym and with any sports.

When I shared this on the bodyweight fitness subreddit there was a ton of interest and I knew Mylo would be helpful to others.

It's been out for just over 3 years and the last big update was at the end of 2023.

Since then over 2000 athletes have made an account and trained, even today there are some regular users.

But with no big changes or communication since, things have died down.

Why so quiet?

I wrote the first line of code that became Mylo over 6 years ago now, I was in my final year of university.

I had a dream to make a workout app that went beyond the gym, that was so flexible you could train however you wanted and still find regimented support backing you up.

When Mylo released, I feel I fulfilled the initial promise I had made, but fell very short on the post-release promises I made to you and to myself.

Life, pressures of the job, personal issues, the list of things getting in the way is long.

I wasn't ready to match my expectations.

What has been going on all this time?

During these quiet years, Mylo did still work.

I went over what it could do, compared all the things I wanted to add, and came face to face with a lot of poor technical decisions I had made.

Decisions that would make it harder to add what I had in mind:

  • training history
  • coaching support
  • exercise library
  • exercise skill tree
  • advanced progression rules
  • and so much more

The database I used was great to get started but got in the way. The architecture around workouts, training, and sharing was fundamentally flawed.

I had a lot to think about and revamp.

Along the way, I improved the interface, redesigned some parts, and fixed a lot of bugs.

What's going on next?

First off, is this updated site and blog.

Second, is a maintenance period during which active users will have their data migrated. I'll explain the details of the migration in a next post.

Third, will be the big release of the new version.

Fourth, is to be openly active and communicate reliably and regularly.

Just like with training, it means nothing if you're not consistent.

Mylo Reboot When?

Monday March 23, 2026!

This is a re-release of Mylo.

Mylo is still the app for athletes, it supports your training in the gym and everywhere else for all disciplines.

  • Create as many workouts as you want
  • Super flexible workout creation
  • Custom exercise progression rules
  • Schedule based workout plans

The new version now works without an account.

All at the same starting price of free without making you the product.

Workout sharing is missing, and that's the next thing I'll bring back.

I'll share more complete and regular development roadmap with the migration.

There's also a discord server you can join to get more recent updates about the project, come in and say hi!
